1860 at Nacogdoches University
Posted 08/30/2010

Step back 150 years and meet Governor Sam Houston and the new president of Nacogdoches University. Set at what we now know as "The Old University Building," this fast-moving interactive play brings a taste of life (cookies and lemonade!) in East Texas.

You'll thrill to the hoofbeats of the Third Texas Cavalry as they escort Governor Houston onto the university grounds.

You'll declaim poetry, gain hands-on experience in creating your own fan or roll black powder cartridges. You can prepare for the upcoming battles by creating medical supplies.

Delight in the classic refreshments and tap your toes at an authentic 1860 gathering set to the music of the banjo and fiddle.

For reservations, call Jana Redfield, 936-564-9711, or 936-554-1766. Tickets are also available at the Convention and Visitors Bureau, 200 E. Main.
