LUFKIN, TX (June 4, 2021): Angelina Arts Alliance, celebrating its 21st year of presenting worldrenowned performing arts in Lufkin, is thrilled to announce its upcoming 2021-2022 Temple Theater Performing Arts Series, Discovery Series and Outreach performances. The season includes extraordinary performances, from all over the world providing high-quality entertainment to the citizens of East Texas. In addition to the Temple Theater Season, Angelina Arts is also pleased to announce the return of its Discovery Series, a family-focused season of educational, fun, and affordable entertainment.
Season subscriptions will be available beginning July 5 at the Temple Theater box office weekdays, 11 am - 5 pm, or calling 936-633-5454. Remaining single tickets for every show will go on sale August 2.
“We are thrilled to present a full season of the best performing arts, entertainment and educational programs anywhere in deep East Texas. Our season includes something for everyone with a wide variety of programs to suit all tastes and needs. After a long year with not being able to fill our theaters, we are excited to resume normal operations beginning in September. If this past year has taught us anything, it is that there is simply no substitution for live performing arts shared with family and friends,” said Executive Director Jennifer Allen.
MARTY STUART & HIS FABULOUS SUPERLATIVES | SEPT 4, 2021 | 7:30PM The Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and musician is living, breathing country-music history. He's played alongside the masters, from Johnny Cash to Lester Flatt, who discovered him; been a worldwide ambassador for Nashville, Bakersfield, and points in between; and safeguarded country music’s most valuable traditions. When it comes to transforming country songs into tangible experience, Stuart has a secret weapon: The Fabulous Superlatives. Made up of guitarist Kenny Vaughan, drummer Harry Stinson and new member, bassist Chris Scruggs, the Superlatives are an extension of Stuart himself.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL | DEC 2, 2021 | 7:30PM Twenty-six iconic holiday tunes envelop this seasonal classic about Ebenezer Scrooge, the famous greedy businessman who lacks kindness, compassion and charity. CROCE PLAYS CROCE | FEB 27, 2022 | 7:30PM A.J. Croce performs Croce Plays Croce, a special night of music featuring a complete set of classics by his late father Jim Croce, some of his own tunes, and songs that influenced both him and his father. This special event features such timeless songs as “Operator,” “You Don’t Mess Around with Jim,” “Time in a Bottle,” (a song written for A.J.), “Rapid Roy (The Stock Car Boy), and “Lovers Cross”, to name a few. Throughout the evening, A.J. speaks on his musical connection to his father, painting a picture for the audience of family, artistry, and memory.

AN EVENING WITH RENÉE ELISE GOLDSBERRY | APR 30, 2022 | 7:30PM Winner of the 2016 Tony Award® for her performance in Hamilton, Renée Elise Goldsberry is equally at home in a Broadway theater, a film set, or on a concert hall stage. Anchored by a four-piece band and a complement of backup singers, her dynamic show is titled Revive. The audience will be on their feet stomping and clapping to the high energy concert and will feel like they’ve attended an old-fashioned revival!
ORQUESTA AKOKÁN | MAY 12, 2022 | 7:30PM Straight out of Havana, Cuba, comes Orquesta Akokán--a blazing ensemble of deeply soulful mambo reminiscent of Benny Moré, Pérez Prado, and banda gigante of the 1940's and 50's. Havana’s top musicians both young and old, join forces with some of the most creative and spirited talents of New York’s Latin music scene. BELLA GAIA | MAR 6, 2022 | 2:00PM Discover what it’s like to be an astronaut! Bella Gaia (Beautiful Earth) is an unprecedented audio-visual experience that combines NASA satellite imagery of Earth, time-lapse nature photography, and live world music and dance on stage. Inspired by astronauts who spoke of the life-changing power of seeing Earth from space, director/composer Kenji Williams’ award-winning Bella Gaia successfully simulates the overview effect from space flight, by using NASA supercomputer data-visualizations, combined with a shimmering melodic and rhythmic soundscape to explore the relationship between humans and nature throughout time and space. This is a mesmerizing multi-media spectacle that should not be missed!
THE UNDERWATER BUBBLE SHOW | APR 3, 2022 | 5:00PM Inspired by childhood standards like Alice in Wonderland, The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan, The Underwater Bubble Show is a modern fairy tale with one major twist. Taking cues from Cirque du Soleil, the visually spectacular show incorporates the latest in stage technology. Lasers, low ground smoke and flying foam simulate waves and the underwater atmosphere.
MADAGASCAR--THE MUSICAL | JUN 12, 2022 | 2:00PM Based on the smash hit DreamWorks’ animated motion picture, Madagascar – The Musical follows all your favorite ‘cracka-lackin’ friends (Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the hip hop Hippo and a colony of hilarious, clever penguins) as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar. Filled with outlandish characters, adventures galore and an upbeat score, you’ll have no choice but to “Move It, Move It!” Madagascar – The Musical is the perfect family outing, with vibrancy and pace for the kids and more complex innuendo for the adults.
