ANGELINA ARTS ANNOUNCES THE PINES PRESENTS SERIES 2021-22 SEASON

Lufkin, TX – Angelina Arts Alliance is excited to announce the line-up of performances in the 2021-22 Pines Presents Series. After having to reschedule a majority of shows from last season, Angelina Arts is thrilled to be able to present a full season that, for the first time, coincides with the Temple Theater season beginning in September of this year.

This year’s Pines Presents Series includes everything from award-winning big brass and bluegrass to the Beatles and more. Season subscriptions will be available beginning July 5 at the Angelina Arts box office weekdays, 11 am - 5 pm or calling 936-633-5454. Remaining single tickets for every show will go on sale August 2.

“The Pines Theater is an iconic, cultural jewel in the heart of Lufkin! And we are honored to play a role in its continued success by presenting a series of high quality, live performances at the historic theater. The Pines Presents Series has something for everyone to enjoy and these artists will surely draw people from all over our great State to visit our community. We also aim to keep ticket prices low so more people can enjoy the best performing arts possible, right in their own backyard, ” said Executive Director Jennifer Allen.

THE RODNEY MARSALIS PHILADELPHIA BIG BRASS | THU, SEPT 23, 2021 | 7PM A group that reflects the diverse makeup of men and women in American culture, The Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass is composed of some of America’s top brass musicians dedicated to bringing the joyous experience of great music to a wide range of audiences. Don’t get lost in the brass, this “dream team” of virtuoso brass players will have you dancing in your seat!

RHONDA VINCENT AND THE RAGE | FRI, OCT 8, 2021 | 7PM Rhonda Vincent is no stranger to most anyone in the field of music. Why even Elton John and Bernie Taupin enlisted Rhonda and her iconic friend Dolly Parton, to create a “Queen of Bluegrass.” The Grammys honored Rhonda Vincent & The Rage with the 2017 award for Best Bluegrass Album and was recently invited to join the Grand Ole Opry.

RUTHIE FORSTER | THUR, NOV 18, 2021 | 7PM Award-winning singer-songwriter Ruthie Foster has found herself duetting with Bonnie Raitt, standing on stage with the Allman Brothers at New York’s Beacon Theater, and trading verses with Susan Tedeschi. A three-time Grammy nominee, Ruthie has won multiple Blues Music and Austin Music Awards, plus the Grand Prix du Disque from Académie Charles-Cros in France.

CELTICE ANGELS CHRISTMAS | FRI, DEC 17, 2021 | 7PM Celtic Angels Christmas captivates audiences of all ages with the magic of Christmas in an aweinspiring show which encompasses vocal and instrumental seasonal and Irish favorites along with spectacular world class champion Irish dancing. This family show is a true holiday celebration of Christmas in Ireland.

BRITBEAT | SAT, JAN 29, 2022 | 7PM BritBeat tells the story of the Beatles from their early days at the Cavern Club in Liverpool, their dynamic debut on the Ed Sullivan Show, the attendance busting concert at Shea Stadium, onward to the psychedelic Sgt. Pepper era and finally the later years of Abbey Road and the White Album. The entire concert plays to the backdrop of immersive and captivating moving multimedia that intertwines with the moods and emotions of the Beatles’ iconic music catalog.

Steeped in the legacy of the Louvin Brothers, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Hank Williams, Sr. & others, The Malpass Brothers have appeared on stages from the Shetland Islands to the Grand Ole Opry. Count on classic, real country, new Malpass tunes, and old-time gospels.

THE QUEEN’S CARTOONISTS | SAT, APR 16, 2022 | 7PM Is it possible to create jazz and classical music in the 21st century that appeals to everyone? It is with The Queen’s Cartoonists! With music from classic cartoons and contemporary animation, performances are synchronized to video projections of the original films, as the band leads the audience through a world of virtuosic musicianship, multi-instrumental mayhem, and comedy.
