Former stand-up and improvisational comedian Dr. Adam Peck will present “Harnessing the Power to Create: Lessons from Improvisational Comedy” at the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce Fourth Friday Luncheon, April 23, noon to 1 p.m., at the Fredonia.
“Studies have demonstrated that thinking creatively is a skill and can be taught. We can learn to generate more innovative ideas without a lot of the usual hang-ups,” Peck said. “At the luncheon, I’ll touch on the skills to make better decisions, to lead others more effectively, to come up with more creative ideas and to get them implemented.”
Peck currently serves as Dean of Student Affairs at SFA. During the early days of his career, while teaching theatre and communication studies, his students jokingly referred to him as "welcome back Kotter." Peck was a teacher by day and a comedian by night.
The luncheon serves as the chamber’s monthly membership meeting. Registration is required by Thursday, April 22. Lunch is $16 at the door. Please call 560-5533 for information or go to www.nacogdoches.org and find the form or pay online using PayPal. All attending may enter the $50 drawing, and all chamber members are entered in a $250 drawing, but you must be present to win. Drawings sponsored by First Bank & Trust East Texas.
