City Manager Jim Jeffers is announcing that the City of Nacogdoches Communications & Main Street Director Sarah O’Brien has accepted a position with the City of Marshall, Texas. O’Brien has been with the City of Nacogdoches since April of 2008. Her last day in the office will be Friday, May 15th. “Sarah’s fingerprints are all over downtown. She is a high energy ‘doer.’ We are very proud of her advancement in the profession but her enthusiasm and talents will be sorely missed,” said Jeffers. O’Brien has been responsible for the coordination of the Texas Historical Commission’s Texas Main Street Program focused on downtown revitalization. Nacogdoches has been a part of the Main Street Program since 1998. In 2012 O’Brien took on additional duties as the Communications Director for the City of Nacogdoches.
O’Brien will take on the Director of Tourism & Promotions position with Marshall effective, Monday, May 18th. O’Brien’s new position will be responsible for developing, planning, directing and managing the City’s newly formed Tourism and Promotions Department and includes direction of Marshall’s Main Street Program. “I am so thankful for the opportunity to serve the citizen’s of Nacogdoches. Nacogdoches Main Street and the City of Nacogdoches have been wonderful and have helped me prepare for this exciting new challenge in Marshall,” said O’Brien.
The City of Nacogdoches plans on posting the Communications & Main Street Director position early next week. “I feel confident that our recent accomplishments have laid an excellent groundwork for my successor,” said O’Brien. “I will forever cherish my relationships that I have formed in Nacogdoches.”
