Nacogdoches ISDis teaming up with community members, businesses and organizations to celebrate literacy at 9 a.m. on April 27 with Nacogdoches Reads One Book.
Community members will join students on our elementary campuses to read the first chapter of “The World According to Humphrey”by Betty Birney.
The local efforts ties in with Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Jason Garrettkicking off this year’s Texas Reads One Book, which is sponsored by Read To Them and the Texas Association of School Administrators.
During a three-week period, families will be asked to read a chapter of the book together each weekday evening. Recordings of community members reading the chapters out loud also will appear on NacTV (Suddenlink channel 21) and on NacISD.org,
Nacogdoches community supporters can participate and teach children the importance of reading is by having a copy of “The World According to Humphrey” available for anyone to read. This experience will create a strong community impact that will drive everyone closer together.
