Nacogdoches ISD
The community is invited to a ceremony at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, to break in the new Dragon Stadium turf, honor Athletic Director Farshid Niroumand for his 32 years of coaching and welcome new NHS soccer coach Colten McCown.
Following the ceremony, the Dragons JV soccer team faces Robert E. Lee at 5:30 p.m., in the first game played on the newly installed turf. The surface is part of a $1.1 million renovation project that includes resurfacing the track in this spring.
The evening marks the first home soccer game without Coach Niroumand leading the team from the sidelines. At the end of the 2014 season, Coach Niroumand decided to retire from the coaching portion of his job and remain solely as the athletic director for Nacogdoches ISD.
Nacogdoches ISD trustees will be on hand for the event and will hold their regularly scheduled meeting afterward in the Nacogdoches High School library at 6 p.m.
Join Nacogdoches ISD for an evening of celebration and soccer. For more information, call communications director Rayanne DuChane at 936-585-1518.
