NACOGDOCHES — For the fifth consecutive year, Nacogdoches ISD received a Superior Achievement rating in the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas.
Associate Superintendent Ronny Knox presented the results to the Nacogdoches ISD Board of Trustees on Thursday night during its regular meeting.
According to the Texas Education Agency, “The state's school financial accountability rating system … ensures that Texas public schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and that they improve those practices. The system is designed to encourage Texas public schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes”
The district earned 68 of 70 possible points from FIRST, which rated the district in eight areas with 20 key indicators.
Those areas included:
1. Financial Condition
2. Audit Findings
3. Local Tax Collections
4. Management of Budget
5. Administrative Cost Ratio
6. Staffing to Student population
7. Cash Management
8. Investments
The FIRST ratings were developed by the TEA in response to Senate Bill 875 of the 76th Texas Legislature in 1999.
