During the week of October 20, a leadership team from Lions Clubs International and Texas Lions District 2-S1 will be in the Nacogdoches area seeking women who would be interested in starting a women-only Lions Club.
A women's club was chartered in Lufkin earlier this year.
According to area Lions' leadership, it has been extremely successful.
The Lions feel that the same could be accomplished in Nacogdoches.
Contact Ed Stiles - 979.236.1209 (cell) - or Waldo Dalchau - 936.201.8313 - for details.
Also, for early risers (both men and women), the Nacogdoches Breakfast Lions Club meets at the Old Town General Store in downtown Nacogdoches every Tuesday at 6:45 a.m.
Contact Club President Terry Simms at 936-564-0123 for information about that club.
Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service organization, with over 1.35 million members worldwide.
Their motto is "We Serve". The primary focus of each individual Lions Club is to assist those in need in their own communities.
In Texas, a major asset is Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, which provides week-long summer camps for special needs children at no cost to them or their families.
Worldwide, Lions Clubs provide numerous services that include sight preservation, measles prevention, reading literacy, and disaster recovery.
If you are approached by a member of the Lions Club leadership team, please consider giving them some of your valuable time to listen to their story and to see if helping to start a new women's Lions Club in Nacogdoches might be right for you.
