A child’s long awaited summertime break quickly becomes the “I am bored” fest without some parental pre-planning.
Learn what options are available during the May 17 “Summer Spectacular” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Nacogdoches ISD Parent Resource Center, 609 Mound St.
Organizer and PRC aide Cheryl Stanco explained that the event is dedicated to helping families prepare for the summer by providing information about local summer programs, community services, tips for learning and summer fun.
Information about free summer meals also will be provided.
Children also are invited to attend the Summer Spectacular and enjoy outdoor fun, including face painting, water games and refreshments.
All nonprofit organizations in the area, including but not limited to, museums, day cares, and service organizations are welcome to set up booths to share activities and information about their organizations and how to register for summer programs.
Lakeshore Learning has donated materials and is a sponsor of Summer Spectacular.
Parent Resource Center is dedicated to helping parents become more involved in their children’s education and providing resources to foster that involvement. Studies show that parent involvement helps students achieve academic and overall success.
The PRC, located north of TJR Academy of Fine Arts, is open Monday- Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday from noon- 9 p.m.; and the first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m.- noon.
