The Nacogdoches County Chamber's annual Blueberry Golf Bash led by co-chairs Trish Holt and Ben Wright made use of morning and afternoon starting times to accommodate 38 teams in the tournament’s 17th edition on Friday, April 11.
Title sponsor was MyPlates.com - Etech.
Finishing with the lowest gross score was Dr. Russell Brewster's team, shooting a 57. Team members included Brewster, Craig King, Andrew Middlebrook and Ricky Socia.
Second low gross was the University Rental team of Jordan Elder, Clayton Woods, Kevin Hopson and Jake Rustin with a score of 59.
Low net winner was Hungry Howie's Pizza #2 team with a net score of 53.6. Team members included Jim Roper, Clayton Woods, Tommy Tatum and Dustin Henson.
Second place low net was the Hungry Howie's Pizza #1 team, scoring 53.7 net. Team members were Aaron Elliott, Jason Dorman, Gabe Lindsay and Jimmy Jeansonne.
Third place low net was the Badders Law Firm team of Brian Stevens, Laurie Stevens, Sammy Duncan and Chad Henderson. They scored 54.9 net.
Fourth place low net was the MyPlates.com #1 team of Jeff Kropik, Jim Spitzmiller, Steve Farrar and Jeff Albright scoring 55.1 net.
To commemorate the 17th anniversary of the Chamber golf event, a special prize was given to the Champion Energy team, which finished in 17th place, with a net score of 58.4. Team members were Bradley Reynolds, Bret Arrant, Jason Wilson and Bill Hodges.
Tournament meals were provided by Piney Woods Country Club and Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers.
PWCC Pro Shop gift certificates were awarded to the top placing teams, and golfers enjoyed other competitions including the Academy Sports & Outdoors Putting Contest, a Curtis & Clark Energy Services $30,000 cash prize Hole-in-One Shootout, a T-REX-S Polaris Ranger prize Hole-in-One contest, Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin.
Winners of the putting contest were 1st place - Heath Clement, 2nd place - Tom Trimble and 3rd place - Mark Busbee.
Longest Drive men winner was Aaron McGuire. Longest Drive women was Laurie Stevens. Closest to the Pin winner was David Smothers.
Golfers also participated in the PL8 Driving Contest, aiming for the My Plates.com banner staked on the driving range. Those hitting the banner won a free license plate from MyPlates.com.
The Blueberry Golf Bash raises funds that the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce uses to provide services to members, newcomers and Nacogdoches visitors.
