The staff of the Judy B. McDonald Public Library invite the public to a come-and-go reception in memory of Lee Cage, founding librarian. The reception will be Saturday, March 1st at 3:00 p.m. Cage passed away January 27, in Kingwood, TX. She and several citizens opened the present-day public library in 1974. Ms. Cage was the library director until her retirement in 1998.
“We were saddened to hear of Ms. Cage’s death. She and dozens of citizens saw the need for a public library for Nacogdoches. They recognized that the community needed the library to serve the education and recreational needs of its citizens. We are indebted to her and the dozens of volunteers and committee members who worked to establish the public library. We invite the public to come and share their memories of Ms. Cage or simply to thank her son and daughter for their mother’s dedication to the library,” said Public Library Director Mercedes Franks.
For more information about the reception, please call the library staff at 559-2970.
