Jackie has both her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in horticulture and taught horticulture for 20 years at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. In addition to teaching organic vegetable gardening, biotechnology in plants, weed science, and horticultural therapy, she also managed hydroponic greenhouses for producing pesticide-free tomatoes, cucumbers, culinary herbs, and cut flowers along with overseeing the university's 20 acre horticulture farm.
Jackie's presentation will cover the definition of organic gardening, organic matter management, organic fertilizers, weed control, and organic pest control.
A plant raffle will be held after the program. The lecture is free and open to the public, but donations to the Theresa and Les Reeves lecture series endowed fund are always appreciated.
