The Farmers' Market will have it's monthly cooking demonstration this Saturday. Elizabeth Hernandez, a dietetic intern from Stephen F. Austin State University, who is completing a two week internship with Good Roots Garden, will be preparing a quick, easy recipe with garden favorites this Saturday! Come see cooking in action and learn about the nutrients your local produce has to offer!
Things you might find this time of year: baked goods (cakes, mini cheesecakes, cookies, fried pies & pies), grass-fed ground beef, steak patties & strip steaks, canned goods (chow-chow, jams & jellies, marmalades, preserves, pickled vegetables, salsas & relishes), artisan Texas cheese, free-range eggs, freshly cut flowers, gourds, local raw honey, jewelry, plants (bedding plants, house plants, fruit trees, trees & whips), soaps (lye and herbal), sugar cane syrup, tamales, vinegars, fruit wines and wood products.
LOCAL PRODUCE: green beans, fresh frozen beans (butter, Lima & pinto), frozen corn, sweet corn, cucumbers, eggplants, fresh garlic, greens(arugula, Chinese cabbage, Swiss chard, collards, kale & komatsuma), herbs (basil, lemon balm, mint, oregano, rosemary, sage & thyme), leeks,shitake mushrooms, okra, onions, fresh frozen peas (brown Crowder, English, pink-eyed, purple hull & zipper cream), shelled pecans, many varieties of peppers, new potatoes, pumpkins (cooking & ornamental), radishes, squash (acorn, butternut, papaya, patti pan, piñata, spaghetti, yellow & zucchini), sweet potatoes, tomatillos and tomatoes (cherry, green, heirloom & red).
