Relay for Life Event Meeting Advisory
Posted 09/18/2013

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Nacogdoches County is getting underway; join us at our buffet-style kickoff from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at North St. Church of Christ located at 3914 North Street in Nacogdoches. This event is for previous team captains and anyone who wants to learn more about the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraiser event. Teams will also find out which theme we will celebrate at the kickoff event!

As participants gather this year to register teams and launch fundraising efforts, they’ll be helping the American Cancer Society redouble its efforts to make this cancer’s last century – not just for members of Nacogdoches County, but around the world.

As the world’s largest grassroots fundraising program, the Relay For Life movement mobilizes friends, families, businesses, hospitals, schools, service organizations and faith-based groups in communities throughout the country, to celebrate those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and provide everyone an opportunity to fight back against the disease.

The Society’s 100th birthday is an excellent time to get involved in the Relay as a volunteer, Team Captain, or participant, and make a difference this century in the fight against cancer.

The American Cancer Society is a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers saving lives and fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. As the largest voluntary health organization, the Society's efforts have contributed to a 20 percent decline in cancer death rates in the U.S. since 1991, and a 50 percent drop in smoking rates. Thanks to our progress, nearly 14 million Americans who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will celebrate more birthdays this year. As we mark our 100th birthday in 2013, we're determined to finish the fight against cancer. We're finding cures as the nation’s  largest private, not-for-profit investor in cancer research, ensuring people facing cancer have the help they need and continuing the fight for access to quality health care, lifesaving screenings, clean air, and more.
