NACOGDOCHES — On Thursday night, Nacogdoches Independent School District trustees approved hiring Grey Burton as the associate superintendent of administrative services.
Beginning July 1, Burton will oversee human resources, food services and plant services in the position.
“We welcome Mr. Burton to the NISD community and are thrilled to have someone of his caliber joining our administrative team,” said NISD superintendent Dr. Fred Hayes.
Burton currently serves as superintendent of another Nacogdoches County district —Martinsville Independent School District
“I am very excited to be coming to NISD,” Burton said. “I’ve lived in Nacogdoches 21 years, and have been in education for 18 of those years. I am excited about getting in and working with the people there.”
He added that he wants to work with Dr. Hayes to “help make NISD a great school district. I look forward to getting out and meeting everybody staff wise and talking to the community about what they would like to see for the district.”
Hiring Burton filled one of the vacancies created by the retirements of assistant superintendent of elementary instruction G.W. Neal and associate superintendent of business and operations Michael Green.
