The Nacogdoches Chamber's annual Blueberry Golf Bash made use of morning and afternoon starting times to accommodate 160 golfers in the tournament’s 16th edition this past Friday.

"With 41 teams, our two starting times helped spread the tournament out,” said Trish Holt, who co-chaired the tournament with Ben Wright. Holt said 10 teams took off in the brisk morning and 31 teams played in the warmth of the afternoon at Piney Woods Country Club.
Finishing with the lowest gross score was Dr. Tony Haskins' team, shooting a 54. Team members included Alli Harris, Jason Haskins, Brent Harris and Rusty Harris.
Second low gross was the Morgan Insurance team of Craig King, Drew Canty, Russell Brewster and Ricky Socia with a score of 56.
Low net winner was Fairchild, Price, Haley & Smith with a gross score of 61 and net of 52.5. Team members included Russell Smith, Wade Flasoushi, Chris Hughes, and Brad Lawrence.
Second place low net was the LifeCare Health Services team, scoring 57 gross and 52.7 net. Team members were Matt Augustine, Kyle Brasher, David Wilcox and Chris Yoder.
Third place low net was the WF Advisors team of Mike Buchanan, Dennis Eby, Don Barlow and Mike Johnson. They scored 60 gross and 53.9 net.
Fourth place low net was the Animal Science Products, Inc. team of Ashley Faries, Mark Sowell, Clark Chandler and Michael Kunk, scoring 65 gross and 54 net.
To commemorate the 16th anniversary of the Chamber golf event, a special restaurant package award was given to attorney Albert Weatherly’s team, which finished in 16th place, with a gross of 66 and net of 56.7. Team members were Ken Deppisch, Wes Jensen, Marty Carnes and Albert Weatherly.
Tournament meals were provided by Piney Woods Country Club, Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers and Appleby Sand Mercantile Cafe.
PWCC Pro Shop gift certificates were awarded to the top placing teams, and golfers enjoyed other competitions including the Academy Sports & Outdoors Putting Contest, a Curtis & Clark Energy Services $30,000 cash prize Hole-in-One Shootout,
Golfers also participated in the PL8 Driving Contest, aiming for the My Plates.com banner staked on the driving range. Those hitting the banner won a free license plate from MyPlates.com.
