Elder and Norton to present state of city, county at chamber luncheon
NACOGDOCHES - City Council Member David Norton and County Commissioner Jim Elder will each give a presentation on local government issues and outlooks at the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce Fourth Friday Luncheon presented by Cellular One, noon to 1 p.m., Mar. 22 at Hotel Fredonia.
"I'm looking forward to speaking at a chamber of commerce event, because the Chamber provides a connection between the private sector and government,"Norton said. "Sharing information is good for everyone, and I'm glad to have this opportunity."
Norton and his wife Anne have owned and operated the Brick House Inn since 2004. Prior to that, he enjoyed a 40-year career with the U.S. Postal Service in Nacogdoches and Marshall. A U.S. Army veteran, the Haynesville, Louisiana native was raised in Arkansas.
Commissioner Elder owns downtown business University Rental. He served as a chamber director 2005-2008 and as chairman of the board 2006-2007. He was graduated from Leadership Nacogdoches in 1984 - the third LN class. He and wife Nancy are members of First Christian Church.
The information presented at the chamber Fourth Friday Luncheon is vital for all local businesses, and the event serves as the Nacogdoches County Chamber's monthly membership meeting.
