Over a hundred years ago, the women of Nacogdoches saved the stones of the Old Stone Fort and laid the groundwork for historic preservation in the Oldest Town in Texas. “Saving Nacogdoches, One Stone at a Time” is Oct. 26- Nov. 4 at the Old University Building, 515 North Mound Street in Nacogdoches. The historical play is set in 1907-08 and includes famous orator William Jennings Bryan, the 1907 Nacogdoches band & school faculty, the women who saved the stones, poet Karle Wilson Baker, music and refreshments.
There is a sponsor’s reception Friday, Oct. 26 at 6:30 p.m. All other tickets are $15 and are available online at www.olduniversitybuilding.com or 936-564-1848. Other performances are 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
