NACOGDOCHES —Get ready to cram your mouth full with hot dogs in the inaugural All-American Hot Dog Eating contest sponsored by Brookshire Brothers. Contestants will try to eat as many hot dogs as possible in five minutes at the Brookshire Brothers’ Freedom Fest presented by metroPCS in Festival Plaza, located in downtown Nacogdoches. The contest will have three categories: Youth 7-12, Youth 13-17 and Adult 18 years and up. The first place winner in each category will win a Brookshire Brothers’ gift card.
The All-American Hot Dog Eating contest will be held in conjunction with Brookshire Brothers’ Freedom Fest presented by metroPCS, the annual Independence Day celebration in Festival Plaza. Families can enjoy live music by Nickel Draft and Mondo Domo, festival food, vendors and children’s activities on Wednesday, July 4th from 5 to 9:30 p.m. The evening will culminate in a dazzling fireworks display sponsored by the Nacogdoches Jaycees beginning 30 minutes after dark. Admission to the festival is free.
Entry forms and complete rules can be picked up at the service desk at your Nacogdoches Brookshire Brothers store or at the festival. Entry into the contest is free. Space is limited and registration is required to participate in the All-American Hot Dog Eating contest. Registration will close at 6:30 p.m. and the contest will start at 6:45 p.m.
