Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital embraced the challenge of COVID-19 last year. During the most medically demanding time in our history, the front-line workers who make this hospital the Miracle on Mound Street did everything in their power to become Miracle Workers on Mound Street. We’re proud of all our healthcare heroes.
Memorial has grown from simple beginnings as a 28-bed neighborhood hospital in 1928 to a 231-bed healthcare system serving all of Deep East Texas. As the region’s only Level III Trauma Center, Memorial also serves as the single largest charitable organization in Nacogdoches County, providing approximately $22 million a year in charity healthcare services to Nacogdoches citizens who qualify for assistance. This is required by the state legislative act that created the hospital district, and we at Memorial feel it is the right thing to do for our community.
We’re working hard to change the face of healthcare for every generation of every East Texas family, in good times and bad, from birth through geriatric care, from diagnosis to recovery. Our outstanding team combines compassion and kindness with the latest technology and advanced treatments to deliver the care you need, where you need it and when you need it most. Last year Memorial admitted 4,300 patients and saw just under 25,000 people in our ER. We provided almost 20,000 outpatient services and our Care First Clinics and partner physician offices reported more than 47,000 patient visits. We are proud to have touched the lives of our friends and neighbors so many times and in so many ways last year.
Since 1928 we have been one of the threads connecting families, friends and neighbors and making Nacogdoches a better place to live. That has always been our goal and it will continue to be our focus. We are Nacogdoches Memorial Health. Where people come first.
