One of the biggest challenges for a college graduate is to transition from a classroom to the real world. It is even harder when they are seeking a greater opportunity to begin their career and plan for the “next step.”
For these, and many more reasons, BH Hospitality Management Company and the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton in Nacogdoches, led by Sandeep Neeli, Eduardo Martinez and Rosa Caporaly-Magana, forged a partnership with the Stephen F. Austin Hospitality Administration Advanced Lodging Operations course taught by Dr. Gina Fe Causin. “This would be a wonderful hands-on experience and collaboration,” according to Dr. Causin.
BH Hospitality Management is a fully integrated management company that prides itself, in producing and maintaining high quality hotels across the state of Texas. They have a proven track record of being the top performers in many of their managed markets, with all of their branded, limited service and extended stay Focus brands. This is accomplished by utilizing qualified managers and staff, while educating and enhancing leadership skills and knowledge within the industry. Much of their success comes from honest business practices, respect to and from their associates, and dedication to maintaining the quality of each of their hotels.
In June, 2019, when BH Hospitality Management Company took over the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton in Nacogdoches, they had vision. Since the hotel was opened, Hampton never had a connection with the young adults in our community and the hotel had never opened the doors to the future generations unless it was for a business purpose. Today, BH Hospitality Management Company is aware that these young adults will soon be leading the industry and will soon guide companies to success and this partnership solidifies this vision.
Hampton Inn & Suites Nacogdoches has been lucky to have employees who either graduated or are still trying to complete their studies and receive their bachelor’s degree. Samantha Kimball, a current employee who graduated from Stephen F. Austin, explained the impact of life after college. From majoring in Hospitality focusing specifically in Lodging, her goal after graduation was to specifically get hands on experience in the industry.
“I learned mostly by lectures, textbooks and PowerPoints, but my learning style has always been hands-on. When I was still completing the undergraduate program, I found that I learned better by doing things hands-on. Not only was I understanding the topic discussed better, but I also discovered that this particular type of learning could be used in my potential career in the future,” Kimball explained.
BH Hospitality Management Company and Hampton Inn & Suites in Nacogdoches are very excited about opening their doors to Stephen F. Austin Hospitality Administration students for this project. They are looking forward to sharing with the students on how the operations of a hotel work and the implication of being a franchised and branded hotel. The hotel’s management team is well prepared to start assigning tasks that will help the students succeed in their careers. It will be great to see in a few years these young adults achieve their goals and take this hospitality industry to the next level. Axe’em Jacks!
