My Chamber Works
Increasing awareness of chamber’s value in statewide campaign

The statement “no other chamber of commerce in the world works for the Nacogdoches community like the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce” may seem overly simplified, but it is packed with truth.
To communicate the value of the chamber and its impact in the community the Nacogdoches County Chamber is running a “My Chamber Works” campaign during Texas Chamber of Commerce Week, October 17 through 21.
In “My Chamber Works,” business leaders deliver short and sweet testimonies that are posted on the chamber’s YouTube channel, NacChamber1. Go to nacogdoches.org and find the link in the Hot News section.
“For several years, the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives (TCCE) has produced Chamber Week, communicating the value of chambers of commerce to their local economies. Newsletter articles, op-ed pieces, and special events are often featured,” said chamber President/CEO Bruce Partain.
“In Nacogdoches, we’ve collected some short video testimonials from our volunteers and posted them online. We wrote them in such a way that people in other communities might think of their own chamber. They’d see how a chamber membership could build their business while building their community,” he said. “In that way, we could be a role model for other chambers and other communities.”
Watch Financial Advisor Scarlett Sloane, Smith & Partners Financial Services, acknowledge the chamber’s help she receives to access her elected officials.
Point A Media’s Michele Peck likes to keep up with community activities by checking the online event calendar.
New resident and Financial Advisor Chris Wigington, Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC, appreciates the opportunities the chamber offers “to meet new clients.”
“We are proud to participate in Texas Chamber of Commerce Week,” said chamber Chairman Lee Smith, Axley & Rode, LLP. “Our chamber has played a significant role in creating an environment where business will succeed and served as an important resource for business growth; thus helping guide our community and businesses toward a more prosperous ‘Nacogdoches of Tomorrow.’”
Chambers throughout Texas are scheduled to participate in this year’s event.
“Texas Chamber of Commerce Week is an opportunity for chambers of commerce around Texas to celebrate their accomplishments and promote their roles in positively impacting their local economies through the creation of new jobs and new tax revenue,” said Royce Hickman, president/CEO of the Bryan/College Station Chamber of Commerce and board chair of Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives (TCCE). “We have Chambers that represent large metropolitan areas as well as those that represent smaller communities, but all of them have a substantial impact on their respective communities. Their collective efforts have helped position Texas as the number one state in which to do business.”
“Our chamber’s work affects all that work, live and visit Nacogdoches,” Smith said. “The chamber of commerce improves the community by stimulating industrial, commercial and agricultural growth. Through the guidance of outstanding business leaders, there is a long history of accomplishment in our city and county that is the result of the support and involvement of the chamber.
“Without a doubt there is no option other than to be involved with the chamber,” he said. “You get so much out of being a part of the chamber that benefits you, your business and the community.”
