Mayor Roger Van Horn and Lake Manager Bill Plunkett will each give a presentation on local issues and outlooks at the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce Fourth Friday Luncheon, noon to 1 p.m., March 28 at Quality Inn & Suites, 3400 South St.

“We are fortunate in this community to have leaders who work together for the good of our citizens," said Dr. Adam Peck, program chair. "I look forward to hearing what they have to say."

Van Horn moved to Nacogdoches in 1975.  Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, he spent five years in the U.S. Army after attending college and graduate school. In Nacogdoches, Van Horn has practiced general family dentistry for 36 years and counting. He served as Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce President in 1987, on the Board of Directors of Fredonia State Bank and Advisory Board of Bancorp South, and a member and Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission. He is a member of the First Methodist Church in Nacogdoches.

Plunkett served in the Houston Police Department from 1977 to 1998 and retired as sergeant. He managed the Nacogdoches County Exposition Center from 2000 to 2012 and was re-assigned as lake manager to Lake Naconiche. He and wife Amy have been married for 36 years. They have two daughters, Kim Gresham and Stacey Cruz, two son-in-laws, Nathan Gresham and Cord Cruz, and new-to-family granddaughter, Hadley Paige Gresham. Bill is a member of the Fredonia Hill Baptist Church.

The information presented at the chamber Fourth Friday Luncheon is vital for all local businesses, and the event serves as the Nacogdoches County Chamber’s monthly membership meeting.
