(Photo: Linda T. Bond) Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce publications are colorful, creatively designed and contain good information. Now they are also award-winning. The Nacogdoches County Chamber won two prestigious awards in its division in the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives (TCCE) 2008 Media Contest. The Chamber’s “Live It Up, Retire In Nacogdoches” retirement brochure won a first place award, and the 2008 Official City & County Street Map won a second place award. Both pieces are part of the Chamber’s 2008 publicity campaign designed and produced by Point A Media. “Each year we build brand recognition for the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce by releasing a comprehensive campaign with fresh graphics and vibrant colors that reflect the spirit of Nacogdoches,” said Angie Brewer, Point A Media. “From the Chamber Directory and Official Map to the Web site and Blueberry Festival graphics, each item is consistent in design. “This year we were able to add the Retirement Brochure to our marketing materials and it is a really great piece that highlights our ability to offer ‘something to everyone.’ The photography, graphics and content paint a bright picture of a future in Nacogdoches. We are so proud of what our community has to offer and our excitement shows in the way we promote Nacogdoches to Chamber members, newcomers, visitors, students and retirees alike.” Brewer said. Awards were presented during the TCCE Annual Conference on June 24 in New Braunfels, and the Nacogdoches County Chamber was recognized by the 300 Texas chamber of commerce executives attending the conference. The trophies are proudly displayed in the Chamber lobby, but the recognition spans state-wide. Nacogdoches chosen for 2010 TCCE Annual Conference Nacogdoches also came back with the ultimate prize – the conference itself. The 2010 TCCE conference will take place in the Oldest Town in Texas. “Part of our presentation involved teaching the other chamber executives the ‘Nacogdoches, Yes, Yes, Yes’ song. I think they can spell Nacogdoches now,” said Chamber President / CEO Bruce Partain. “Many thanks to Melissa Sanford and Sherri Skeeters of the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau and Mary Roan and Rebecca Frazier of the Hotel Fredonia and Conference Center for their winning bid package and presence at the conference.” "We are excited to have been selected as the host for the 2010 TCCE Annual Conference. This was our third year in a row to bid on the annual conference and we are delighted to finally bring this one home," Skeeters, assistant director of the Nacogdoches CVB, said. Partain said that TCCE currently has 332 members, and most attend the annual conferences. These chamber executives view the conference as a time to enjoy the hosting city’s local attractions. According to Partain, many bring their families along and use the time as a “working vacation.” “We are honored to have the opportunity to host such a prestigious group and we look forward to showcasing the Oldest Town in Texas in 2010,” Melissa Sanford, executive director of the Nacogdoches CVB said. “We’ll be working with others in the community, developing touring and activity agendas that will please anyone’s tastes. We plan to entice them to visit Nacogdoches again … and again.” TCCE is an organization of chamber executives from across the state, working together to improve the business climate in Texas, while developing ways to enhance the quality of life in the communities that they represent. The organization’s mission is “to enhance and promote the professional growth and competency of chamber of commerce professionals."
