February 6, 2010 we got 8" of snow in Northern Nacogdoches County! Most snow I have ever seen on Texas soil. We had just bought our 27' R.V. and it housed us while our electricity was off due to the snowfall. It was our maiden voyage, in our own winter wonderland, in our own backyard! I love Nacogdoches!!!

I really miss the blues concert/festival that happened for a couple of years before it moved to Longview. It was held at the Expo.

When the Christmas Parade had Santa Claus riding in on the fire truck & he gave mini loaves of Sumbeam bread. I think I 1962 to 1964 - not really sure of the year but it was great!

The days of the "Biggest Little Horse Show on Earth" at the old fair grounds on South Fredonia. It was the social event of the summer. There was a kick off party at Hotel Fredonia. Us young folks would swim and stay up late. The show was in the evenings and we would serve as escorts for the young ladies who presented the ribbons to the winners. Jack McKinney or A.T. Mast would be the MC and Jason Summers would play the organ. A wonderful picnic was held at the Shorty Jones house on North Street on Saturday. I was fascinated with the show horses, owners, trainers, groomers, etc. Those were the days.
