Nacogdoches, Texas - The fourth annual Cram the Coliseum events drew to successful conclusion Saturday, January 28.
The Ladyjacks defeated Sam Houston earlier in the week, while the Lumberjacks lost a one-point nail-biter to A&M Corpus Christi.
"I thought for an afternoon game held on a beautiful, warm Saturday, we had excellent attendance," said SFA Assistant Athletic Director John Branch, commenting on the Lumberjack game.
This is the fourth year the Nacogdoches County Chamber has partnered with SFA Athletics through the SFA-Chamber Connection Committee's Cram the Coliseum promotion.
Each Chamber member received ten tickets in the mail, good for either game. Extra tickets were given to anyone asking - including youth groups, scout troops and youth teams.
"We also posted an online ticket on the Chamber's website - www.nacogdoches.org - this year," said Gary Lee Ashcraft, chairman of the SFA-Chamber Connection Commitee. "Who knows, maybe next year a smart-phone ticket might be offered," he laughed.
While wins are appreciated, they are not the main focus for the Chamber.
"Helping build community awareness and support for SFA basketball is our goal," Ashcraft said.
Still, a 7-1 record since 2008 has SFA Athletics excited about continuing the promotion.
