Actor Shelby Bond coming to Nacogdoches

Actor Shelby Bond is coming to Nacogdoches to appear in the historic play "1860 at Nacogdoches University" Sept. 10-12. He lives in LA and performs comedy, trick roping and bullwhip feats around the world. He just returned from the Edinburgh Theater Fringe Festival and the Theatre Festival in Winnipeg. He has been featured at LA's Second City Comedy Club and the Texas Renaissance Festival with Sound and Fury. Bond entertained as Cowboy Max for the last two years at the Texas Blueberry Festival in Nacogdoches.









Visitors will step back 150 years as “1860 at Nacogdoches University” recreates the life of the early East Texas. The performance is Friday, Sept.10 and Saturday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 12 at 2:30 p.m. at the Old University Building in downtown Nacogdoches.











Guests will meet Governor Sam Houston (Brad Maule) and the new president of Nacogdoches University, William Lee Alexander (Bond). They will get a taste of life in East Texas from the Third Texas Cavalry and the people who populated Nacogdoches in 1860. They’ll declaim poetry, get hands-on experience with the language of fans and rolling black powder cartridges and they'll help prepare for medical emergencies. The performance will end with delicious refreshments and the music of banjo and fiddle.







Tickets are $15 and available at BancorpSouth, the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau downtown, the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce and the Old University Building at 515 North Mound Street. For reservations call 936 564-1544.
