Fourth Friday Luncheon - sponsored by Oncor Electric Delivery - is noon to 1 p.m., Aug. 27 in Hotel Fredonia’s Convention Center. Dr. Laura Fernandes, pictured on right above, Nacogdoches Heart & Vascular Institute, PA, and Dr. Sergio Moreira, East Texas UroCenter, will present a program on advancements in their respective healthcare fields.

All attendees will be entered in a $50 cash drawing, and every Chamber member is entered in a $250 drawing, but you must be present to win. Both drawings are sponsored by First Bank & Trust East Texas.
“Oncor is putting out the welcome mat with displays addressing electric service related issues that impact the people in Nacogdoches,” Oncor Area Manager David Collier said. “We’ll have representatives ready to answer questions and some attendees will be lucky winners of some nice prizes.”
The Oncor displays and representatives will be ready for visitors from11:30 a.m. to noon and also from 1 to 2 p.m. for luncheon attendees and those who cannot attend the luncheon.
Fernandes is an interventional cardiologist at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Cardiology, the Board of Interventional Cardiology and by the Brazilian Rheumatology Society. Fernandes graduated from the Federal University of Pernambuco - PE in Brazil where she was in the top 10 students of her class.
Before moving to Nacogdoches, Fernandes practiced in the Woodlands and in Conroe, where she served as chairperson of the Department of Cardiology at Conroe Regional Hospital. Fernandes specializes in general and interventional cardiology with a focus on coronary stints and peripheral angioplasty, as well as treatment of vascular disease and abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Dr. Moreira completed his urology residency at the University of South Florida, Tampa and his fellowship in male infertility and reproductive medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. His main areas of interest are general urology, male infertility and microsurgery, male sexual dysfunction, minimally invasive therapy for prostatic hyperplasia, male and female voiding dysfunction, oncology, laparoscopy and robotic surgery. In 2004, Dr. Moreira was awarded the prize "SLS Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Resident Surgeon" by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons (SLS) and in 2007 he was named by the Consumers' Research Council of America as one of "America's Top Urologists."
Dr. Moreira is a national proctor for the DaVinci robotic surgery and a national and international proctor for laser surgery. He is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology (ABU).
