Plogging is picking up in Nacogdoches!

Picking up litter while jogging or walking briskly is a new fitness trend called "plogging." The Swedes gave this activity its unique name, and Healthy Nacogdoches Coalition is now proclaiming "it's time to start plogging Nacogdoches!

All in Nacogdoches County are invited to start plogging and join a plogging celebration in Pecan Park on April 30 Click for calendar listing.

"This is one of the easiest health trends to implement in to your daily routine," said HNC Physical Activity Chair Caroline Garner. "Anyone may go plogging, individually, with your friends and family, and in groups. Plogging can make a positive impact in personal health and in our community.

"Starting now and going through April 30, Healthy Nacogdoches Coalition invites everyone to begin plogging and taking pictures. Post the photos on Facebook using the tag #PloggingNac."We will 'like and share' to show off your fabulous plogging skills!" Garner said. "So grab a bag to collect trash and start plogging your neighborhood, our parks and gardens, the Lanana Creek and Banita Creek trails. Wherever a good walk or jog takes you."

Healthy Nacogdoches Coalition invites the community to a Plogging and Picnic in Pecan Park gathering on Monday, April 30 at 5:30 p.m. Bottled water will be provided, and all may enter to win nice door prizes. There is no charge to attend the event, but guests are encouraged to bring a picnic meal and blanket or chairs and enjoy the City's beautiful Pecan Park, near the intersection of E. Starr Ave. and N. University Dr.
