Rumble Strips to Be Set at US 59/US 259 Entrance Ramp
Posted 07 - 11 - 2016

Weather permitting, the entrance ramp at US 59/US 259 in Nacogdoches County will be closed Thursday for several hours.

Maintenance contractors will set in-lane rumble strips beginning at about 10 a.m. and traffic will be diverted around the work area. Installation of the strips should take about three hours before the entrance ramp is reopened. The rumble strips will provide advance warning to slow down and lessen the chances of motorists driving at an unsafe speed as they enter US 259.

Road Safe, contractor for the project, along with TxDOT Nacogdoches Maintenance crews will provide traffic control during the rumble strip application. Rumble strips create noise and vibration inside the vehicle that work to alert a driver that speed should be reduced. Rumble strips are not hazardous to any type of vehicle.

Motorists are urged to obey all traffic control devices and signs and be alert to workers and equipment through the work area. Reduce speed and be prepared for delays. Remember, traffic fines double when workers are present.
