Nacogdoches Farmers' Market newsletter for June 25
The market is open Saturdays from 8am until after noon AND Wednesdays from noon to 5pm
Music: Cindy Grayson will be playing if her voice comes back. She plays an amazing repertoire of popular songs from the 60's and 70's as well as some of her own songs.
This Friday, June 24th at 8pm at Millard's Crossing on North Street, the Pineknot Music Co-Op will be hosting a CD release event featuring brand spanking new music from the uber talented Daniel Driver. Daniel is continuing the great Texas singer/songwriter tradition with colorful and descriptive songwriting that is original and classic all at the same time.
Chef Todd of SFA has a new intern and will be doing a series of cooking demonstrations at some of our Wednesday markets starting June 29. Watch for details to follow.

Saturday Market, June 18, from 8 AM until just after noon
NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS AND VENDORS: All items for sale are required to be locally grown or locally made. Our produce vendors are inspected quarterly.
Things you might find include: LOCAL produce… vegetables, fruits, herbs, artisan Texas cheeses, hand-made clothes, home crafted items, free-range eggs, baked goods (breads, cakes, mini cheesecakes, cookies, cupcakes & pies), canned goods (jams & jellies, marmalade, preserves, pickled vegetables, salsas & relishes), local raw honey, jewelry, fried pies, plants, goat milk soaps, local wines, wood products, and more.
Local Produce this time of year includes: okra, green beans, tomatillos, eggplants, beets, blackberries, blueberries, carrots, cucumbers, greens, herbs, kohlrabi, purple hull peas, banana peppers, new potatoes, squash, nectarines, peaches, garlic, tomatoes (green & red), hot peppers.

#1 David Kimling will be selling smoked Gouda and other artisan cheeses from Brazos Valley Cheese of Waco, Texas; artisan blue & cheddar cheeses (jalapeno, sharp cheddar & caraway) from Veldhuizen Farms of Dublin, Texas and goat cheeses from the Haystack Mountain Goat Dairy (including artisan gouda, Camembert, chevre, chili Jack, half cow/half goat cheese and red cloud).
#2 Joyce Goranson grinds Organic KAMUT grains to bake Fresh Fermented Breads--7-Grain, Honey Oat, Tomato Basil, Raisin, Flatbread Pitas and Pizza Crusts--and Cowboy Cookies. $5 per loaf/bag or 2/$9. #3 Michelle Craig will be back. She sells Mini specialty cheesecakes, assorted cookies, fried pies, fried meat pies, buttermilk pies and various other goodies.
#3 Jacob and Lisa Weems with "Fine Southern Pickles" will be back! They'll have Sweet Pickles, Sweet &Spicy, Sweet Red, Dill, and Spicy Dills.
#4 Maydelle Country will selling fruit wines. Their wines are made in small batches and bottled one at a time with the attitude of "If it ain't fun, it ain't right." Their wine list consists of Lemon, Lime, Grapefruit, Elderberry, Blackberry, Peach, a Pear/Apricot blend (Texas Sunset), pineapple and others that will be rotated by stock. #4 Mary Ronzello has organic produce. She will have Asian long beans, green beans, greens (Swiss chard & kale), herbs (chives, dill, oregano & sage), banana peppers, plants (bottle gourd & malibar climbing spinach), scallop squash and tomatoes.

#6 The Jones family from Texadus Family Farm in Timpson will have fresh chemical free tomatoes and cucumbers! They will also be selling Jalapeno Cheese Bread, Flour Tortillas, Buttermilk Biscuits, Lemon Sunshine Rolls, and more baked goods, spice blends, granolas, and jams and jellies made with local fruit and sweetened with local honey (NO SUGAR!!) And NOW their Bread and Butter Relish is made with LOCAL HONEY! They will have their hand crafted goat's milk soap made from their own goat's milk available (We milk the goats! We make the soap!). Come by, smell the soaps, and ask questions. We have fresh batches of Don’t Bug Me Spray and deodorants including our newest scent Thai One On, a fresh ginger lime. #7 Jackie McBroom of Wildhurst Bee Company WILL be selling for Opal Blume, who is not feeling well. Jackie will have beeswax, local honey, creamed honey.
#8 Millard Farms will have green beans, okra, tomatillos, cucumbers, beets, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, greens, kohlrabi, a variety of lettuce, red, yellow and white onions, parsley, dill, and possibly other fresh herbs, purple hull peas, radishes, new potatoes, squash (yellow & zucchini), blackberries, strawberry preserves.
#9 Moon and Sun Farm (They come to the market every other week) will have
garlic chives, sweet corn, fresh free-range yard eggs (organic, non-GMO feed), greens (kale & Swiss chard), herbs (lemon balm, lemon basil, purple basil, mint, oregano & rosemary), onions, potatoes (red and Idaho), potted plants (wild blackberries & prairie phlox), radishes, scallions and squash (blossoms, yellow straight-neck & zucchini).
#10 Michael Cid with the New Day Baking Company will be serving breakfast burritos, chicken fajita tacos, omelets and pancakes. He will also be selling yard eggs, fresh juices, foccacia bread and other baked goods.
#11 Fred Wharton (organic) will have green beans, cucumbers, red Burgundy onions, squash (freckles, patti pan, yellow & zucchini) and tomatoes.
#12 Forester/Artist, Bruce Cunningham sells books of plant illustrations, carving of crosses, cards, posters and t-shirts. "Ask the Forester" if you have any questions about plants.
#13 Cindy Pruett with the Appleby Community Farm will be at the market this week. She will have eggs, flowers, herbs, kombucha, and veggies. Nikki Cumby (Grandma's Best) will be back. She sells fried pies in a variety of flavors which include apple, apricot, peach, cherry, pineapple, chocolate, coconut, vanilla, lemon, buttermilk, pecan and sweet potato. Her pies are much larger than the average pie. She also makes homemade cookies, brownies, sweet breads, pies, cakes and old fashion tea cakes. For special orders call 903-216-7438.
Louis Duffield will be selling Kentucky wonder beans, blackberries, cucumbers, jams (peach & plum), jellies (blackberry, blueberry, plum & mayhaw), green onions, squash (yellow & zucchini) and tomatoes. Stanley with Bellebrook Farms (They come to the market every other week)- They sell 90% lean organic Belgian Blue Beef: ground beef (90% & 98 % lean), steaks, brisket, roasts and cheese balls. If anyone needs meat before then please come by their office at 2639 Canyon St. (just off Old Tyler Rd) to pick up anything you need.
Naca Valley Vineyard will have the dry red Dolcetto they recently introduced. Drop by Saturday for a tasting of this newest bottling, plus the Vermentino semisweet white and the Bad Day Rose’. We’ll share all of the exciting news about the new wines and the upcoming sweet red table blend. Stop by our booth and we’ll share all of the exciting news about the new wines and the tasting room to open this summer at 9897 FM 1878.
Keith Wright will be here with his chuck wagon. He will be demonstrating Dutch oven cooking with cobblers, pies and rolls for sale.
Jim Duty will have farm fresh - free range eggs, yellow squash and GOOD OKRA
Robert Fleet will have green beans, unshelled pinto beans, carrots, cucumbers, onions, fresh frozen purple hull peas, potatoes and squash (yellow & zucchini).
Brown’s Orchard will have peaches and nectarines.
Jonathan from the Perkins Farm will be selling greenhouse tomatoes (green & red). They will also be selling cabbages, cucumbers, jalapenos, new potatoes and yellow squash.
George Partin will have green beans, unshelled pinto beans, cucumbers, red onions, banana peppers, new potatoes, squash (yellow & zucchini) and tomatoes (green & red).
