For the teachers, for the children

Nacogdoches is known for loving its children and caring about their future. One couple’s business efforts and success over the past 22 years fulfilled their lifelong professional ambitions while giving back to the community. They keep in mind that “our children are our future.”

Moni and Benita Tabch have achieved their shared dream with their one-of-a-kind business, Terrific Teachers’ Treasures, Inc. The business has grown in to one of the largest stores of its kind in Texas.

Terrific Teachers’ Treasures opened in 1987. The store provides an array of items that a teacher, student, or parent may need, that created a wide customer base and kept the business thriving. It offers laminating, copying and binding for any customer, not just teachers and students.

“We have students who become such great customers and move back to Dallas or Houston and can’t find a store like ours. So we provide shipping to those individuals who still want to use our store,” said Moni.

Terrific Teachers’ Treasures contains a plethora of items, including borders, bulletin board decorations, board sets, gift items, banners, paints, certificate awards, posters, charts, school supplies, learning games, books, activity books, home school stuff, arts and crafts and Spanish supplies.

The store offers free delivery in town, online shopping and a catalog. The store ships anywhere in the U.S. and overseas and provides gift certificates, which can make a great gift idea for a recent graduate in the education field.

The Tabchs stress that their faith comes first in their life and second come the children. “We want to make sure that the children are taken care of,” said Benita.

The Tabchs third most important element to keeping their business a success is dedication to their customers.

“With our customers ranging from parents, teachers, schools, churches, offices and education students from SFA, we provide the best service for all of our customers,” Benita said.

Terrific Teachers Treasures currently has 10 employees, whom the Tabchs say they hold dear to their heart.

“Our employees are friendly and a hard-working spiritual group who are here every day to better serve our customers,” said Benita.

Moni added that their local competitors are also very friendly. He doesn’t view them as business competition, but as friends in the business working together to achieve a common goal.

If Terrific Teachers’ doesn’t have an item, the customer is referred to local office supply stores, discount retailers or craft merchants. “We all work together, and they do the same for us,” Moni said.

The owners love what they do, love the community of Nacogdoches and plan to be here for the children as long as possible.

“First and foremost we want to thank God almighty for everything He has done for us. We give God all the credit for everything,” said Benita.

Throughout the month of August, as students prepare for the start of a new school year, Terrific Teachers will stay open on Sundays from 12 to 5 p.m. Normal business hours are Monday through Saturday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
