Posted 02 - 23 - 2015

Nacogdoches Fire & Rescue Captain Chuck French received the award for Texas Training Officer of the Year from the Texas Association of Fire Educators at their annual conference. The award, presented on Saturday February 14, was created to honor Earl Malone, one of the founders of the Association. The Association’s mission is to promote education in the fire service in the State of Texas."

Captain French is a Nacogdoches high school alumnus who holds multiple professional certifications including master firefighter and master fire service instructor. French has worked for Nacogdoches Fire & Rescue since 1993 and was a Lufkin firefighter for two years before returning to his home town. In addition to his service with the City of Nacogdoches French serves as the part-time Director of the Angelina College Fire Academy. French also serves as a member of the regional Pineywoods Incident Management Team and as an instructor for the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System.

Nacogdoches Fire & Rescue Chief Keith Kiplinger said that “Captain French is a valuable asset to the City of Nacogdoches and the entire State of Texas. Chuck has responded on multiple deployments and has trained hundreds of firefighters during his career. This award is important because it recognizes Chuck and the City of Nacogdoches.”

Also during the conference French was elected to a two year term as President of the Texas Association of Fire Educators.
