For third year, Nacogdoches ISD sets goal to put 100 bikes, toys under children’s Christmas trees

NISD’s third annual Making the Season Bright bike and toy drive

·       What: Making the Season Bright bike and toy Drive led by Nacogdoches Independent School District

·       Who can donate: Anyone who wants to purchase a new bike or unwrapped toy for a child in need

·       Where: Donations should be dropped off at The E.J. Campbell District Support Center, 420 S. Shawnee (which also may be accessed from the University Drive entrance, which is just south of Main Street).

·       When: All bikes and toys need to be at the NISD support center by Dec. 11.

NACOGDOCHESNacogdoches schools want to fill 100 local children’s wishes for a new bike under the Christmas tree.

Every campus and department in Nacogdoches Independent School District is participating in the “Making the Season Bright” bike and toy drive that runs through Thursday, December 11.

“We are excited to take up this challenge for the third year in a row, “said Nacogdoches ISD Superintendent Dr. Fred Hayes. “In 2013, our campuses, departments and the community made heartfelt contributions of 95 bikes and hundreds of dollars in toys for the children of Nacogdoches County.”

Toys for Tots organizer Ronnie Bowser has said the bike donations  allow him to use monetary donations, which in previous years paid for bikes, to  fulfill  children’s wishes for other toys.

District officials are encouraging each campus and its support offices to collect approximately 10 bikes, as well as other new, unwrapped toys.  All of the donations then will be given to the Nacogdoches Toys for Tots and will be distributed to the families selected for that program.

The E.J. Campbell District Support Center, 420 S. Shawnee (a second entrance is located off of University Drive, just south of Main), serves as the Making the Season Bright donation drop-off site.
