First Ever Outreach Show at LMS Nov. 7
“I cannot emphasize enough the importance of middle school students seeing this show!” said Tracy Pinkerton Executive Director of the Angelina Arts Alliance, while speaking about the first show of the new Outreach Series, STICKS AND STONES . Friday, November 7th there will be three hour-long performances in the Lufkin Middle School auditorium; 10:00 am, 12:30 pm, and 2:30 pm. Tickets are still available for the first two performances and teachers and administrators can contact the Temple Theater box office at (936) 633-5454 to get their classes in to see this highly emotional relevant performance. STICKS AND Presented by Angelina Arts Alliance, STONES is from the 2014-2015 Schooltime OUTREACH Series, Live from Lufkin Middle School, which is 2014-2015 Season Sponsors are First Bank & Trust East Texas and Georgia Pacific.
STICKS AND STONES targets 6-8th graders and is a musical play about social issues and bullying. It is based on real life experiences of adolescents, and funded by the United States Department of Justice. Lyle Cogen takes on this one-woman performance which includes portraying multiple characters, music, poetry, and video projection, all within a story about the critical effects of bullying. It includes catchy songs that educate, empower, and entertain students simultaneously to effect change on bullying. Lyle challenges adolescents to be change makers, and in addition to the performances, she will conduct a Teen Ambassador Workshop on the Lufkin Middle School campus on Thursday 11/6. Select students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grades will participate.
