The Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce Education committee chaired by Dr. Judy Abbott, Dean, James I. Perkins College of Education, SFASU, challenge the business community to participate in GenTX Day and support a college going, career ready culture.

"Many East Texas businesses and nonprofits are actively supporting GenTX Day across the region by having their employees wear college T-shirts for the day," said Megan Kelley, secretary to the Dean of the College of Education.

Kelley suggests businesses do the following to support GenTX Day.

1. Relax business dress codes and encourage employees to wear a college T-shirt on May 2.

2. Spread the word -

Add "GenTX Day - May 2" message to your marquee/sign.

Share GenTX Day message during meetings.

3. Offer discounts to customers that wear college shirts.

4. Participate in our Social Media Buzz by snapping a photo of yourself supporting GenTX Day and tagging on the following social media sites:

     Instagram - @SFAGenTX; #SEGenTX

     Facebook - www.facebook.ocm/SEGenTX

     Twitter - @SEGenTX; #SEGenTX.

If anyone would like more information on the day's events, or would like to participate please contact Kelley, (936) 468-1292.

GenTX Day is part of Generation TX, a statewide initiative supported by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board focused on building a college-going, career-ready culture across the state.
