Learn more about Nacogdoches ISD magnet schools during campus showcases
Posted 02 - 28 - 2014

Children with interests in the arts, science and technology or learning a second language are candidates for one of three Nacogdoches ISD magnet schools.

Parents can learn how NISD nurtures and furthers young dreams at these theme-based, elementary school campuses during one of three showcases. Each school is hosting its own event.

They include:

  • Thomas J. Rusk Academy of Fine Arts, Tuesday, March 4, 6-7 p.m.

  • Emeline Carpenter Academy of Technology & Science, Thursday, March 20, 6-7 p.m.

  • Nettie Marshall Academy of Dual Language, Tuesday, March 18, 6-7 p.m.

Magnet school openings available — including for those outside of the NISD attendance zone — for the 2013-14 school year include: Emeline Carpenter Academy of Technology and Science, kinder, first and second grades; Nettie Marshall Academy of Dual Language, kindergarten; and Thomas J. Rusk Academy of Fine Arts, kinder, first and second grades.

Applications will be available on the campuses and at the NISD District Service Support Center, 420 S. Shawnee, on March 25 and are to be returned by April 25.

Students need to apply only if they wish to attend a magnet school outside of their home attendance zone.  The district will notify parents as to whether the application request was granted.
