Nacogdoches ISD schools plan to bring reading to life once again by bringing Texas Bluebonnet author, G. Neri to campuses during the week of January 27.
Neri’s book “Ghetto Cowboy” was among the books to receive the prestigious Texas Bluebonnet Award for 2013-14.
His visit continues the Nacogdoches ISD push to have students visit with authors of popular books.
“We’re all really excited to meet this particular author,” said Betty Sanders, librarian of Emeline Carpenter Academy of Technology and Science.
On Monday, Jan. 27, Neri will speak to third through fifth graders at 9 am in the ECAT cafeteria Following the presentation, there will be a luncheon in the library from noon to 1 pm with the author.
“This will be a good experience for our students, because most students at this age don’t believe that authors are real people, or they think all authors are deceased,” Sanders explained.
Toward the end of his visit, Neri will walk around to classes and sign autographs.
He also will visit Raguet Elementary School at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, and Mike Moses Middle School next Thursday.
