Nacogdoches Dragons receive all-state recognitions

Nacogdoches Dragon football players are among those recently named to several All-State football team picks.
The Associated Press Sports Editors named Senior Jacorey Whitaker its second-team defensive end of the 4-A All-State team. Also receiving honorable mention from the APSE were Linebacker Brian Scott (Sr.), center Jacob Bragg (Sr.), and safety Brandon Jones (Soph..
Nacogdoches also was represented on the Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State Team.
Senior offensive lineman Alex Gavin was named to the Elite Team, while honorable mentions were given to defensive tackle Jadarrius Ervin, tight end William Glover, wide receiver Reed Watson, and defensive tackle Casey Williams.
Academic All-State athletes must be a senior member of the team in good standing, maintain an overall grade point average of 92 or above, including grades 9-12 (first six weeks of senior year), and be of good moral character.
