NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS – Recently created art in a variety of media will make up the annual “SFA Faculty Exhibition,” which the Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Artwill open with a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.Also opening at the same time is the featured faculty exhibition of Linda Post, assistant professor of digital media at SFA. In the video installation “Echo,” Post uses recorded and live video projection “to heighten viewers’ awareness of their own physicality within the exhibition space,” she said.The faculty and Post exhibitions “highlight the talents of the SFA School of Art,” according to John Handley, director of the SFA galleries.“The faculty exhibition demonstrates the virtuosity and personal artistic achievement of those instructing students on a regular basis,” Handley said. “Simply put, it is our chance to show off and highlight these amazing artists.”The faculty exhibition will feature all media, including painting, photography and sculpture.In her work, Post explores perception and individual position in experiential works of video installation, sound and photography. Her installations and audio works invite viewers into three-dimensional time-based experiences that encourage reflection and provoke thought, Handley explained.Post’s work can be seen in Reavley Gallery, while the faculty show will be displayed in Ledbetter Gallery. The exhibitions will run through Oct. 19.The Cole Art Center is located at 329 E.
