NISD wins half of the awards from Innovative Inventions contest

NACOGDOCHES  — Some of Nacogdoches Schools’ youngest inventors won nine of 18 awards given on April 8 during the Innovative Inventions contests hosted by the Region 7 Educational Service Center.

To participate in the event, according to the Region 7 ESC, students could either:

• Create an original, innovative design to improve the efficiency or functionality of a household task or appliance; or

• Create an original, innovative design that focuses on conserving resources and/or centers around a "green" theme.


In the Division One categories in which NISD participated, here are the results:

Potential Benefit to Society

• First Place – Trash Combustor 10, 000, Emeline Carpenter Academy for Technology and Science;

Second Place – Soap ‘N Soak, Center ISD;

• Third Place – Caprisuninator, Brooks-Quinn-Jones Elementary School.


Innovative Design

• First Place – Foot Flusher, Fredonia Elementary School;

• Second Place – Animal Walker, Mt. Enterprise ISD;

• Third Place – Jazzy Jewelry, Brooks-Quinn-Jones Elementary School.


Prototype Performance

• First Place – Foot Flusher, Fredonia Elementary School;

• Second Place – Jerry’s Radio Hat, Brooks-Quinn-Jones Elementary School.

• Third Place – Penyola, Brooks-Quinn-Jones Elementary School. 


Effective Display

• First Place – Burn Free Curling Iron, Center ISD;

• Second Place –   Alarm Arm, Fredonia Elementary School;

• Third Place – Magic Katcher Keyboard, Brooks-Quinn-Jones Elementary School.
