NACOGDOCHES – Time to look ahead to the 2013-14 school year and register children for kindergarten and prekindergarten.
Children who are 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2013, need to register for the Nacogdoches Independent School District kindergarten program.
Parents can go to the NISD Elementary School in their attendance zone to begin the process. If you do not know which school your child would attend, look under the Parents link at NacISD.org. An Attendance Zone map is available. If you still are unsure, call the NISD Support Center at 569-5000.
Also, it is not too late to register prekindergarten students for 2013-14.
The first round of registrations, March 27-28, signed up more than 250 prekindergarten students. There are still a few spots remaining.
Parents of future NISD Prekindergarten students may go to any elementary school or the Student Support Services office on North Fredonia Street, across from the Martin School of Choice.
Children who are 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2013, could qualify for Nacogdoches Independent School District prekindergarten.
Those who are eligible for the free prekindergarten program include: the educationally disadvantaged and second language learner, both determined by NISD and federal criteria; children in foster care; and children of active duty military parents.
When coming registering for either kindergarten or prekindergarten , bring as many of these documents as possible: birth certificate, social security card, immunization record, proof of residency (water, electric bill or other proof) and proof of income (prekindergarten only).
For questions or for additional information, call Christy Clark, Executive Director of Student Support Services at 936-569-3150 ext. 3200.
