Nacogdoches FFA students take top rankings

NACOGDOCHES — Nacogdoches FFA received top rankings when competing against hundreds of state FFA students while attending two different invitational career development event contests
“Nathan (Jordan) and I are very proud of our student’s accomplishments and how well they represent our school district,” said Nacogdoches High School FFA sponsor Rachel Valenti.
On Wednesday, nine Nacogdoches teams competed in the McClennan Community College Invitational CDE. There, the Meats Evaluation team brought home a first place, and three team members received individual honors. Landry Allen was the second high individual, Jordan Bogue third high individual, and Trevor McCarley was eighth high individual.
Also at McClennan Community College, the Floriculture team placed sixth.
On Thursday, Nacogdoches FFA teams competed in the Tarleton State University Invitational CDE Contest, the largest contest in the nation.
Four students placed in the top 20 in their contests. Katy Baldock was third high individual, and Braylon was the fifth high individual out of 514 in the Poultry Evaluation contest.
Sarah Prince was the 10th high individual and Madison Andrew was the 14th high individual out of 412 in the Floriculture contest.
The Poultry Evaluation team came in fifth out of 138 teams, the Diary Cattle Evaluation team was fifth out of 171 teams, and the Floriculture team was sixth out of 118 teams.
Meats Evaluation team was the seventh place team out of 74 teams.
