TRAINING: 160-hour Community Health Worker Certification Course - Distance Learning - March 1, 2013 - June 13, 2013 - Texas AHEC East - Piney Woods Region
We are pleased to announce that Texas AHEC East-Piney Woods Region has been approved as a certified training center for Community Health Workers. Community Health Workers (CHWs) work in association with the local health care system (hospitals, doctors, clinics) to bridge the gap between providers and underserved populations in need of care. They are members of the community who share ethnicity, language, socioeconomic status and life experiences with those they serve. The need for Community Health Workers in our region is growing and we believe the demand for individuals with this additional training will grow.
We are now accepting registration for our Spring 2013 online course to become a certified Community Health Worker. Please take a moment to review the attached information on Community Health Workers and the registration form. If you are interested in earning a certification as a Community Health Worker, please contact Texas AHEC East-Piney Woods Region or complete the attached registration form and return it to the address listed on the brochure. Please note that although this is an online course, participation is limited. Additionally, upon completion of the course, students will receive certification and credentialing as a Community Health Worker; however, the 160 hours do not apply to academic course credit hours.
We are excited about the ability to offer this program and look forward to hearing from you soon.
