NACOGDOCHES — Nacogdoches Independent School District needs the community’s help gathering new bikes to make local children’s Christmas wishes come true.
So far, the district is at 25 of its 100-bike goal. They, along with any new, unwrapped toys donated, will be given to Toy for Tots as part of NISD’s first “Making the Season Bright” bike and toy drive that runs through Friday, Dec. 14.
A majority of the 25 bikes lining a hall of NISD’s District Support Center were donated by the school campuses and auxiliary departments with only a few coming from outside of the district.
NISD officials began the drive at the end of November and encouraged each campus and its support offices to each collect approximately 10 bikes, as well as other new, unwrapped toys. All donations will distribute by Toys for Tots on Dec. 17 to the families who registered through Love Inc. and were selected for the program.
The E.J. Campbell District Support Center, 420 S. Shawnee (a second entrance is located off of University Drive, just south of Main), serves as the Making the Season Bright donation drop-off site.
