NACOGDOCHES – The City of Nacogdoches Planning and Zoning Department, Engineering Department and Inspection Services Department will be changing the location of their offices early next month. Disruption of City services to the general public will be minimal. After July 9th, all three departments will be located on the second floor of City Hall, with a new centralized citizens help desk located in Room 239, which is currently the City of Nacogdoches Engineering Department. The new reception area will be a one stop shop for developers, surveyors, contractors and any citizen seeking information relating to development. Citizens seeking permits, filing a subdivision plat, or requesting GIS services, will all be able to have their needs served in the new reception area.
“The move of all three of these departments to one floor is designed to better serve our citizens, and equip support staff with the resources to handle any development request in one location. Currently citizens are often sent to several offices during the development process, a builder may have to request a zoning verification on the 2nd Floor, then head down the hall for a new address, and finally down to the 1st floor to get a permit. This move will eliminate that hassle, and provide complete development related services in one centralized location,” said City Planner Larissa Philpot.
This consolidation of services is another step in the City of Nacogdoches’ plan to serve our citizens more efficiently. “We are positive that our ongoing transition to a “new normal” provides the most effective way to properly serve our citizens, and makes prudent use of their tax payer dollars,” said City Manager Jim Jeffers.
The City of Nacogdoches Main Street Program, which is currently housed in the Planning Department, will move upstairs to the third floor in room 320. For more information or questions about the move, contact City Planner Larissa Philpot, 936-559-2574 or email@example.com.
