Join Nacogdoches Naturally Family Outdoor Adventures on Saturday March 2, 2013 for a guided hike on the trails of Nacogdoches. The group will meet at 9 am at the SFA Pineywoods Native Plant Center, 2900 Raguet, and begin our hike on the trails of the Tucker Woods. From there, we will walk along LaNana Creek through the lower trails of the SFA Arboretum, cross the bridge and enter the Ruby Mize Azalea Garden. After meandering through the garden we will cross the street to wander down into the new Gayla Mize Garden. Once in the garden, there will a chance for rest and snacks before heading back to the PNPC to arrive by noon. This easy low stress walk will be taken at a leisurely pace (round trip mileage is about 3 miles).
This will be a great way for families to enjoy the natural beauty of East Texas in early spring. There will be opportunities for bird watching, plant identification, and observing the wonders of nature as we stroll along the trails. Nacogdoches Naturally will provide snacks for the event. Backpacks, binoculars, magnifiers, and field guides will be available for check out to interested families.
Nacogdoches Naturally Family Outdoor Adventures is a project sponsored by SFA Gardens and funded through a More Kids in the Woods grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture U.S. Forest Service.
