Brookshire Brothers Washer Tourney

NACOGDOCHES - Sharpen those washer-pitching skills for the 1st annual "Star Spangled Pitch Off" washer tourney sponsored by Brookshire Brothers. Contestants have the opportunity to compete in this inaugural event Sunday, July 4th at Freedom Fest in downtown Nacogdoches. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners of the Pitch Off.
"We wanted to bring something new and unique to Freedom Fest this year," said Anderson Dolton, meeting and event coordinator for the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau. "Pitching washers is a fun outdoor event enjoyed by many around East Texas so come out to Freedom Fest and participate in a little friendly competition."
The Star Spangled Pitch Off will be held in conjunction with Freedom Fest, the annual Independence Day celebration in downtown Nacogdoches. Families can enjoy live music, tasty food, and children's activities Sunday, July 4 from 5 to 9:30 p.m. The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will be on hand the day of the festival to celebrate the Fourth of July with the residents and visitors of Nacogdoches. The evening will culminate in a dazzling fireworks display sponsored by the Nacogdoches Jaycees beginning 30 minutes after dark. Special fireworks glasses will be available free of charge at twelve regional Brookshire Brothers locations. Admission to the festival is free.
Entry forms and complete rules for the washer tourney can be obtained from the Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau, by visiting www.visitnacogdoches.org, or at the service desk at your local Brookshire Brothers store. The tourney will be held at 6 p.m. and entry into the contest is $20 per team.
